Thickening and stabilizing agent for concrete and self-leveling building materials (primary application): An outstanding rheology modifier and anti-segregation agent in modern construction chemicals.

• Self-leveling mortar: Significantly enhances suspension and water retention at very low dosage levels; prevents aggregate settlement and surface bleeding, ensuring a uniform, segregation-free system while maintaining high flowability.
• Flocculation and underwater concrete: Imparts exceptional resistance to dispersion and washout to underwater non-dispersible concrete.
• Cement-based and high-calcium systems: Compared to xanthan gum, Welan gum demonstrates superior viscosity stability in highly alkaline and high-temperature environments, resisting the breakdown of its network structure.

Oilfield extraction and drilling fluid additive: Used in deep-well drilling muds, completion fluids, and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) agents; maintains excellent suspension and carrying capacity—and prevents fluid loss—under conditions of high temperature (>100°C), high salinity, and high shear.
