Broad-Spectrum Dialkyl Quaternary Biocide: A core component of third- and fourth-generation twin-chain dialkyl quaternary ammonium bactericides and a primary ingredient in broad-spectrum, high-efficiency quaternary ammonium disinfectants.
- Mechanism: The cationic hydrophilic group rapidly electrostatically binds to the negatively charged cell membranes of bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses. The hydrophobic hydrophobic carbon tails penetrate and disrupt the lipid bilayer, causing lethal cytoplasmic leakage.
- Applications: Extensively deployed across hospital-grade hard surface disinfectants, food processing equipment sanitizers, industrial water treatment algicides, and slime-control agents for cooling towers.
