Usage
Tetramethylammonium chloride is white to almost white powder.
Tetramethylammonium chloride is a phase transfer catalyst for organic synthesis. It has stronger catalytic activity than triphenylphosphine and triethylamine. It is a white crystalline powder at room temperature. It is volatile, irritating, hygroscopic, soluble in methanol, soluble in water and hot ethanol. Do not dissolve in ether and chloroform. It is decomposed into trimethylamine and methyl chloride by heating to above 230 °C. Also used in the synthesis of liquid crystal epoxy compounds, polarography and pop analysis, the electronics industry.
Storage
Keep in the original packaging in a clean, dry, low humidity environment.
