Used as a food additive, mainly used to prepare emulsified flavors; it can also be used as a plasticizer in film, paint, ink, etc.

• Food and Beverage Industry:

  • Weighting Agent: SAIB increases the specific gravity of flavoring oils in beverages, preventing them from floating or settling, thus maintaining a consistent flavor and appearance. 
  • Flavor Emulsion Stabilizer: It helps stabilize flavor emulsions, preventing separation of essential oils, particularly in citrus-flavored drinks. 
  • Potential Replacement for BVO: In some regions, SAIB is used as a substitute for brominated vegetable oil (BVO) in beverages.
