delta-Valerolactone Usage
Ring-opening polymerization for biodegradable materials: This is a highly active functional monomer in modern polymer science, derived from ring-opening polymerization. Through specific catalytic systems, novel biodegradable plastics and biomedical polymers are synthesized. These polymers possess excellent flexibility, biocompatibility, and biodegradability, and are widely used in drug-release microspheres, surgical sutures, tissue engineering scaffolds, and high-end environmentally friendly packaging materials.
Fine organic synthesis and pharmaceutical intermediates: As a highly efficient five-carbon building block (containing an active lactone ring structure), it is widely used in the synthesis of fragrances, modified polyurethane (PU) polyols, reactive diluents for UV-curable coatings, and as a precursor for the synthesis of certain antiviral and cardiovascular drugs.
