CAS 868272-85-9 Product Description:
3,3′-Diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride hydrate (DAB Tetrahydrochloride Hydrate) is a water-soluble salt of 3,3′-Diaminobenzidine, commonly used as a chromogenic substrate in various biochemical and histochemical applications. When oxidized, particularly in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and hydrogen peroxide, it forms an insoluble, dark brown precipitate. This property makes it exceptionally useful for visualizing enzymatic reactions and detecting specific biological targets with high sensitivity. The hydrate form offers improved stability and ease of handling compared to its anhydrous counterpart.
CAS 868272-85-9 Key Applications:
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) & Immunocytochemistry (ICC): Widely used as a chromogen for detecting antigens in tissue sections and cell preparations. The brown reaction product is stable and easily visualized under a light microscope.
Western Blotting: Employed for the detection of proteins separated by gel electrophoresis and transferred to membranes, often coupled with HRP-conjugated antibodies.
ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay): Can be used as a substrate in certain ELISA formats for colorimetric detection.
In Situ Hybridization: Used for visualizing nucleic acid probes in tissue or cell samples.
Neuroscience Research: Utilized in tracing neuronal pathways and visualizing specific cellular structures due to its ability to form a dense precipitate.
Electron Microscopy: The reaction product can be osmicated to yield an electron-dense product, making it suitable for ultrastructural analysis.
