Usage
1-Dodecanethiol (1-DDT), also known as n-dodecyl mercaptan or lauryl mercaptan, is a versatile compound with a range of applications. It is primarily used as a chain transfer agent in radical polymerization, a polymerization inhibitor, and as a reagent in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles and self-assembled monolayers (SAMs).
It prevents unwanted polymerization reactions in polyurethane resins and neoprene adhesives, particularly in applications like footwear.
1-DDT is a key reagent for synthesizing thiol-stabilized metal nanoparticles, including gold and silver nanoparticles.
It acts as a coordinating ligand in the synthesis of Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) nanocrystals and as a capping ligand for copper sulfide nanoparticles (Cu2S).
