Used in biochemical research. It is also a non-reducing glucose derivative, a tetrahydroxy polyol with a unique cyclic structure, possessing excellent chemical properties and widely applicable in industries such as rigid polyurethane foam, melamine and phenolic resins, fabric finishing, adhesives, cosmetics, coatings, and surfactants. It is a nonionic surfactant and plasticizer. It is also a copolymerizing agent and resin regulator in the synthesis of polyether and polyester polyols.
