Phenol Red application:
pH Indicator: Widely used in acid-base titrations and various biochemical experiments. Its pH color change range is 6.8 (yellow) to 8.4 (red).
Cell Culture: In the biomedical field, it is often added as a core component to tissue culture media to monitor the pH changes of the culture medium due to metabolic acid production during cell growth in real time.
Clinical Renal Function Testing: Clinically, it has been used in the phenol red excretion test to assess renal tubular excretion function by measuring the amount of phenol red excreted in urine. It is also used for the determination of total blood carbon dioxide.
Others: Used in the plastics and pharmaceutical industries. Indicator in the preparation of disaccharide-ferruginous urea medium for bacterial serological testing, etc.
