Natamycin Usage
Broad-spectrum natural antifungal agent: It is currently recognized globally as an extremely safe, highly effective, and natural antifungal food preservative. It is produced through fermentation by Streptomyces. It specifically binds to ergosterol on the cell membrane of fungi, disrupting cell membrane permeability, leading to leakage of cell contents and cell death.
Application scenarios: Widely used for surface spraying or direct addition of antifungal agents to cheese, meat products (such as red sausage, fermented sausage), mooncakes, pastries, juices, soy sauce, and salad dressings.
Pharmaceutical-grade ophthalmic and antifungal preparations: In the pharmaceutical field, it is used to formulate 5% natamycin ophthalmic suspension eye drops, which is the first-line effective drug for the clinical treatment of fungal keratitis; it is also used to treat fungal infections such as skin and vaginal candidiasis.
